Veloce Racing set for Sardinia scorcher
Veloce Racing will return to its traditional black and green colours for this weekend’s Island X Prix in Sardinia (8/9 July), as the championship leaders look to maintain an advantage at the top of the Extreme E standings.
Veloce’s star driver pairing of Molly Taylor and Kevin Hansen have been in flying form so far this season, having taken a win at each of the opening two events in Saudi Arabia and Scotland respectively.
Running in red as part of a collaboration with partners E.ON for its home X Prix in Scotland last time out, Taylor and Hansen wowed those watching with another stunning victory and now lead the overall standings by 11 points.
The turnaround for Veloce Racing in 2023 has been nothing short of remarkable with the likes of ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team, Season 1 winners Rosberg X Racing (RXR) and reigning champions Lewis Hamilton’s X44 Vida Carbon Racing currently trailing in the wake of the fledgling British squad.
The all-electric off-road racing series will race in Sardinia for the third successive season with the revised three-kilometre track providing a challenging – yet shorter – test than in previous years, with scorching conditions set to descend on the Army Training area at Capo Teulada.
Saturday’s upcoming Island X Prix opener will mark the midway stage of the campaign, whilst Sunday’s event will kick off the second half of the season, as the title race continues to take shape.
Daniel Bailey, CEO, Veloce Racing, said: "We have had such a fantastic start to the season, but we are committed to keeping that form going in Sardinia this weekend. Everyone has worked extremely hard to ensure we are competing at the very highest level, and now we want that to become the norm for Veloce Racing, so let’s see what we can achieve at the Island X Prix in Sardinia."
Molly Taylor, Veloce Racing driver, said: "It’s true that we’ve had such an amazing start to the 2023 Extreme E season, but now that we’ve tasted that success we obviously want more. The level of competition in XE is extremely high, however, so we are under no illusions as to how tough this weekend’s Island X Prix will be – we are looking forward to the challenge."
Kevin Hansen, Veloce Racing driver, said: "Molly and I have been testing during the break, both in the Extreme E car and off-road, so we both feel well prepared and excited for the Island X Prix and remainder of the season. We have been successful so far in 2023, and the whole team will be working together to try continue in this positive direction."
