Veloce Racing ready to paint the town red
Extreme E squad Veloce Racing has changed its colours for this weekend’s Hydro X Prix in Scotland (13/14 May) as the red of partners E.ON is displayed on the famous #5 ODYSSEY 21.
Fresh from a breakthrough victory at the opening X Prix of the 2023 season in Saudi Arabia back in March, Veloce Racing currently leads the standings ahead of its much-anticipated home X Prix.
With the relationship between Veloce and E.ON growing ever-stronger both parties believed the time was right for Veloce’s race-winning machine to receive a minor makeover.
Whilst the striking look of the car might be different, the winning ingredients within the team remain as Veloce Racing continues its rise through the ranks of Extreme E – the all-electric off-road racing series.
Kevin Hansen has stood on the rostrum no fewer than seven times in his XE career so far – including that maiden triumph in Saudi – whilst Molly Taylor is one of the most successful female racers in the series having won the inaugural championship in 2021.
This talented combination – overseen by multiple skiing champion and Dakar winner Luc Alphand – led the team to a double podium last time out and the fledgling outfit is ready to fight for more success in Scotland this weekend.
As it is the home event for Veloce, the team will be cheered on by hundreds of family, friends and guests, as well as many many more watching the action LIVE on ITV1 throughout the weekend in the UK.
Alongside the E.ON branding on Veloce Racing’s ODYSSEY 21, the two organisations collaborate across a range of activities, creating engaging content with the aim of raising awareness on a range of topics closely linked to racing, energy and diversity.
Daniel Bailey, CEO, Veloce Racing, said: “We can’t wait for the Hydro X Prix in Scotland and the car – complete with its new look E.ON colours – looks absolutely mega! The opening weekend of the Extreme E season in Saudi Arabia was one we’ll never forget and we’re looking forward to challenging for honours again this weekend.”
Scott Somerville, Chief Marketing Officer at E.ON UK, said: “We are hugely excited about our ongoing relationship with Veloce Racing and the car looks absolutely fantastic ahead of the Hydro X Prix in Scotland. By working with Veloce we’re able to reach a huge number of people and champion both organisations’ shared values around essential topics like fighting the climate crisis and making even more progress towards equality and meaningful diversity.”
Molly Taylor, Veloce Racing driver, said: “The car looks great and we’re looking to carry on our momentum from the fantastic results we achieved in Saudi Arabia last time out. The spirit within the team is really high, everyone is working extremely hard, and we are committed to fighting at the front once more for Veloce Racing.”
Kevin Hansen, Veloce Racing driver, said: “The car looks fast and I’m sure it’s going to be fast, so bring on the Hydro X Prix in Scotland! This is the kind of surface and layout that hopefully suits my style, plus both Molly and I – as well the whole team – are working so well together, so we are excited about our potential for the weekend.”
