Veloce Racing aiming to end season on a high
Extreme E Season 2 draws to a close this weekend (26-27 November) with Veloce Racing’s new-look driver line-up feeling positive ahead of the Uruguay Natural Energy X Prix.
The British squad announced earlier this month that 2021 Extreme E Champion Molly Taylor and series frontrunner Kevin Hansen will form the team’s new driver pairing for the season finale in Punta del Este, as well as the forthcoming 2023 campaign.
The Veloce duo already boasts considerable Extreme E pedigree and success, with Taylor securing the inaugural title with Rosberg X Racing while Hansen has scored five podiums from his eight X Prix appearances so far.
As both Taylor and Hansen begin their long-term future with Veloce Racing, the pair will be looking for a good result to close out the 2022 campaign while gaining significant experience for the new season commencing in Saudi Arabia next March.
The Uruguay Natural Energy X Prix is set to showcase how Uruguay as a country is taking a world-leading commitment in its renewable energy efforts, setting a benchmark for how sustainability can be adopted. As with all Extreme E X Prix, the teams and drivers will take part in the series’ Legacy Programmes, providing positive support to the local community and beyond.
Extreme E made its first competitive foray into South America with its recent round in Chile and the championship returns in the continent just two months later for the all-important finale in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
Extreme E brings together ten of the world’s finest off-road racing teams and one of the most competitive driver line-ups on the planet.
Molly Taylor, Veloce Racing driver, said: “I can’t wait to get started with Veloce Racing and I’m sure we’re going to have a great weekend here in Uruguay.
“As I said previously, I think we are building a very special team here at Veloce and I’m looking forward to working with Kevin once again. We have high expectations, particularly as we also look ahead to the 2023 Extreme E season together.”
Kevin Hansen, Veloce Racing driver, said: “We have touched down in Uruguay and it’s getting exciting now.
“This is a long-term project with Veloce Racing and we have high ambitions together, so we will be looking to have a positive weekend here. Molly and I work very well together too and the partnership that we are already building between us, and the team, bodes extremely well for the future.”
Daniel Bailey, CEO of Veloce Racing, added: “These are exciting times for Veloce Racing and we are delighted to be arriving here in Uruguay with our new driver line-up.
“Kevin and Molly are extremely experienced and have enjoyed much success in their careers to date, so we are sure this will be a hugely positive step forward for the team – both for this weekend and beyond.
“Extreme E Season 2 has had its challenges for Veloce Racing but we are aiming to end the year on a high.”
